OUR STORY
How words became our way to build freedom.
What began as a vision for connection and creative freedom has grown into a collective of writers and storytellers amplifying voices and movements across the world.
Black Women Write for Freedom is a dream I’ve been nurturing for as long as I can remember. As a writer who has partnered with various organizations, I recognized the need for a dedicated space that supports and empowers the voices of Black women.
For more than 12 years, I’ve worked across communications writing meaningful stories, producing award-winning scripts, and helping secure over $2 million in grant funding. Through it all, I’ve witnessed the power of storytelling to shape culture and spark transformation. Even amid the industry’s highs and lows, one truth remains clear to me: our stories deserve room to breathe, to challenge, and to dream a better world into being.
Writing is both an act of resistance and restoration. It is about claiming space, telling truth, and imagining what freedom looks like on and beyond the page.
What began as a personal vision has grown into a creative storytelling studio that partners with writers, nonprofits, churches, and mission-driven organizations.
Together, we write to connect, to fund, and to free, using language as a tool for impact, education, and transformation. That is the heart of Black Women Write for Freedom — using words and stories to create a world where every person is seen, valued, and cared for.
