Black Women Write for Freedom Foundation advances literacy, storytelling, and cultural education as tools for truth telling, healing, and community transformation. Our work serves people across generations and communities by creating spaces where lived experience is honored as knowledge and storytelling fuels civic engagement and collective liberation. Through writing programs, workshops, and travel based learning experiences, we invest in stories that strengthen communities and expand what freedom can look like.

Community Workshops, School Writing Programs, and Retreats
We offer community workshops, writing programs, and retreats that serve underserved communities, designed to inspire creativity and strengthen writing skills.
Through interactive sessions, participants engage in storytelling, academic writing, and creative expression. Our programs are tailored for diverse age groups and skill levels, fostering a love for writing while building confidence and communication.
Together, we equip individuals and students with the tools to express themselves fully and effectively.
Retreat Center (Vision Project)
We are raising funds to purchase a house and land that will serve as a dedicated retreat center and bed-and-breakfast for writers and visitors—especially those from marginalized communities. This space will be a sanctuary where writers can come together to relax, recharge, and focus on their craft in a supportive and inspiring environment.
The retreat center will offer writing workshops, creative support, and a community of like-minded individuals who share a passion for storytelling and self-expression. Writers will have the opportunity to escape the distractions of daily life, connect with fellow creatives, and gain the tools and resources they need to take their writing to the next level.
The property will feature comfortable accommodations, peaceful surroundings, and dedicated spaces for both individual reflection and group collaboration.

Community Center Mfranta Village (Ghana)
We are raising funds to build a community center in Mfranta Village, located in the Western Region of Ghana. This center will serve as a hub for education, social services, and economic empowerment, benefiting families and individuals of all ages.
The center will provide space for children’s education, women’s skills training, and community gatherings. It will feature classrooms, a library, vocational training areas, and spaces for events and meetings.
